Minnesota’s men’s golf team placed second at the Tillinghast in Scarsdale, N.Y. The Gophers finished three strokes behind first place Illinois at Quaker Ridge Golf Club. Minnesota trailed the Illini by three strokes going into the second round, but could not make up the difference.
Sophomore David Morgan carded the best finish of his career, tying for fifth after an even-par 70 on Tuesday. Junior Matt Anderson and sophomore Simon Nash finished in a tie for eighth.
This was the final tournament for the Gophers in the fall season. They will begin their spring season at the NCAA Shoot-out in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico on Feb. 24-26.
