Five former and current Gophers women's hockey players will compete with the U.S. national team in preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics, USA Hockey announced Monday.

Junior Amanda Kessel, last year's Patty Kazmaier Award winner, will join freshman teammate Lee Stecklein and former Gophers players Megan Bozek, Gigi Marvin, Anne Schleper on Team USA. Of the 25 members named Monday, 21 will make the U.S. Olympic team.

Bozek was a Patty Kazmaier finalist last season, when she became the Gophers' all-time leading scorer for a defensemen (146 points on 47 goals).

Kessel led the nation in points (101) and goals (46) last season.

The 2014 Olympics will be held in Sochi, Russia, on Feb. 6-23.
