For the second week in a row, a Minnesota women’s hockey team newcomer has been named WCHA Rookie of the Week.
Goaltender Brenda Reinen earned the honor after saving 37 of 38 Minnesota-Duluth shots on Sunday to preserve a 1-1 tie.
Reinen made her first career start in place of sophomore Stephanie Johnson – who was stormed for seven goals in Saturday’s 7-0 loss to the Bulldogs.
Minnesota forward Kelly Stephens took home rookie of the week accolades last week, giving the Gophers back-to-back winners.
Basketball time change
Minnesota’s men’s basketball team changed the start time for its game with Nebraska on Dec. 22. The Gophers will tip-off at 7 p.m., not 1 p.m. as originally scheduled.
Single-game tickets on sale
Single-game men’s basketball tickets go on sale by phone only on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The cost is $29 per ticket for all games, with limits of two games per household at the rate of four tickets per game for Big Ten contests.
