Gophers seeking a little payback against Michigan

The Minnesota volleyball team will be looking for some redemption this weekend at the Sports Pavilion, as it takes on Michigan on Friday at 7 p.m. and Ohio State on Sunday at 1 p.m. âÄúWe want to get Michigan in our home gym where weâÄôre more in our element,âÄù senior setter Rachel Hartmann said. âÄúWe had a good weekend last weekend, and weâÄôre ready.âÄù By ready, she means ready for a chance to even the record between the two teams this season, as the Gophers (22-6 overall, 12-4 Big Ten) were swept at Michigan earlier this season to begin their only losing streak of the year. âÄúWhen you go to Michigan, the atmosphere to play is kind of hard,âÄù senior outside hitter Kyla Roehrig said. âÄúThe floor we play on is over a swimming pool, so itâÄôs really hollow underneath you. I think weâÄôll be more prepared for them and more comfortable here.âÄù Sophomore outside hitter Brook Dieter seemed to be the only player to have a good match at Michigan, collecting 19 kills and hitting .320 while the rest of her team hit .017. âÄúWe didnâÄôt play very well there,âÄù coach Mike Hebert said. âÄúThey served us very well, and our passing broke down. ItâÄôs not like us to get surgically carved up like that. WeâÄôll have to fix that, and weâÄôll have to do a better job of blocking. They were a step ahead of us all night.âÄù Michigan (22-6, 10-6) is 13-1 at home this season, but just 5-5 on the road . Ohio State (11-17, 2-14) has struggled in each environment equally. The BuckeyesâÄô only wins this season have come against Northwestern, and they have yet to take any other conference team to five sets
