The University Law School will announce plans today to raise $30 million in private donations.
The campaign is part of the $1.3 billion “Campaign Minnesota,” a five-year effort to raise money for scholarships, technology and building improvements.
“The capital campaign was designed to strategically place the Law School in a position to meet the needs and demands of training law students in the community,” said Terri Mische, director of Law School alumni relations and communications.
Robert M. Kommerstad, a 1952 alumnus, pledged $1 million to establish a business law and entrepreneurship center.
With Kommerstad’s gift and other donations, the Law School has already reached 45 percent of the $30 million goal.
A model of the new building addition will also be unveiled. It is expected to be completed by August 2001.
The kick-off ceremony is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. in the Auerbach Commons on the plaza level of the Law School.
