Brooks earns two silver medals

Freshman Alena Brooks earned two silver medals at the Carribean Games. She was representing her homeland of Trinidad and Tobago at the 2010 Carifta Games in George Town, Cayman Islands. In Brooks’ second-place 800-meter run she was clocked at a time of two minutes, 8.97 seconds.

Brooks also anchored the 4 X 400-meter relay team that lost a close race to Jamaica, finishing with a time of three minutes, 37.32 seconds. She competed in the 400-meter dash as well, placing fourth (54.83). Brooks had a successful indoor season for the Gophers in 2010, twice earning All-Big Ten second team for her runner-up finishes in both the 600-meter dash and the distance medley relay.
