I am appalled at the behavior of bus riders here in the Twin Cities and especially around campus. Just yesterday a co-worker of mine who is eight months pregnant was forced to stand on a crowded Campus Connector, and not one person offered her a seat. Certain seats are designated for disabled and elderly riders and, I would think, very pregnant riders as well, yet bus riders take these seats and then do not move for the needy riders. If our students are so insensitive to othersâÄô needs, the bus drivers should take control and look out for their riders. All bus riders, and especially the student population, should think of others besides themselves. Keep common decency alive. Monika Schachern University faculty
