Maroney arrested on drugs, weapons allegations

Former Gopher and current Denver Broncos running back Laurence Maroney was arrested Monday night in St. Louis on allegations related to drugs and weapons.

In an e-mail to the Daily in response to the incident, St. Louis Metropolitan Police spokeswoman Erica Van Ross said that two cars were pulled over around 10:30 p.m. Monday night, and that six men were arrested out of the cars’ seven total occupants; three on marijuana and weapons charges, two on only marijuana charges and one for being a felon in possession of a weapon.

All six men were released pending the application of warrants.

Maroney’s publicist told the Associated Press that her client was not arrested for drugs, and that he holds a conceal-and-carry permit.

According to Van Ross, police found three guns in one car and one in the other.

Van Ross said the application of warrants could take up to 30 days.
