Gopher Towing can no longer immobilize vehicles in St. Paul after the company failed to renew its license, the St. Paul City Council voted Jan. 21.
Gene Buell, owner of the Minneapolis-based company, said the suspension will not greatly affect students because vehicles were rarely booted near the University’s St. Paul campus.
The City Council voted to immediately suspend Gopher Towing’s license following a series of unanswered city requests for several documents, including proof of insurance.
It is unlikely the company will renew its license with St. Paul in the near future, he said. Gopher Towing still immobilizes and tows vehicles in Minneapolis.
