All three of the Gophers’ goals came within the last 8:36 of the period. Raty made a few great plays on the puck and had 11 saves in the period, just as many as MSUM’s Altmann. The Gohers had 14 shots on goal in the period to MSUM’s 11. The Mavericks hurt themselves with 8 minutes in the box in the period, 6 more than the Gophers. Francis becomes the first Gopher to reach the 100-point mark since Gigi Marvin in 2007-08 with an assist on the first goal of the night. There are a few Gopher fans in the crowd tonight here in Mankato, and they are making their voices heard with the Minnesota rouser on every goal. 53.8-Minnesota tacks on another to lead 3-0. Emily West scored the one-on-one goal as Erickson and Schleper get the assists. 2:53-Gophers take advantage of MSUM’s miscues and add to the lead as Anne Schleper scores the power-play goal while Kelly Seeler and Sarah Erickson get the assists. MSUM’s goalie, sophomore Alli Altmann, has looked solid so far, but it will be difficult for the Mavericks to stay in it if the Gophers keep up the attack. Senior Brittany Francis is looking for her 100th career point tonight. She has seven so far this year. She would become the 16th Gopher in history to accomplish that goal. The team welcomes back Noora Raty and Mira Jalosuo after they missed the second game against Wisconsin two weeks ago to represent Finland, their home country, in the Four Nations Cup. The Finnish team took fourth place while Canada took home the gold for the 11th time in the 14 years the event has been held. 9:34-The Gophers will have a 4-3 advantage for about 11 seconds and will have a power play for another 1:49 afterward to try and break up this tie as MSUM’s Kathleen Rosso heads to the box for hooking. 11:24-Both teams are down a player as Maunu and MSUM’s Smith head to the box. Still 0-0. 13:00-Gophers come up with nothing during the power play. MSUM goalie Alli Altmann was able to make a few good saves on some opportunities to break up the tie. 15:39-Both teams have had chances so far, but neither have put one in the back of the net. Gophers will try to change that as they go on the power play.
