Score remains 0-0 after one period. The Bulldogs had a couple power-play opportunities, but could not capitalize. UMD outshot the Gophers 9-8. Gopher goalie Noora Raty made a couple impressive saves in a crowd and at one point lost her stick briefly. At the end of the first, it looked as though captains from both teams talked with officals about shoving that took place just in front of the Minnesota net. Minnesota strikes first yet again as junior Emily West scores on a shorthanded breakaway goal. The Gophers go into the final period in the lead 1-0. Minnesota outshot the Bulldogs 14-10 in the second. A scrum broke out in front of the Gopher net, as Minnesota’s Kelli Blankenship and UMD’s Vanessa Thibault each served 2 minutes in the box. Each team failed to capitalize on three power plays in the period. Minnesota extends its lead to 2-0 after Blankenship scores her first goal of the season with 17:56 left in the game. The Gophers add on to the lead after senior Chelsey Jones scores a shorthanded goal with 7:22 left in the game. Junior Terra Rasmuseen had the assist. Gophers hold on to win 3-0, sweeping UMD.
