Gophers point guard Justin Cobbs will transfer to a school closer to his home in Los Angeles, the team announced today.
As a freshman this season, Cobbs played in 34 of the team’s 35 games, averaging 10.7 minutes and 2.1 points per game.
Media rumors of the transfer began more than a month ago, and were confirmed just after athletics director Joel Maturi acknowledged that junior forward Trevor Mbakwe is seeking to transfer as well. Freshman Royce White withdrew from the program this winter, and junior forward Paul Carter transferred to the University of Illinois-Chicago last month to, like Cobbs, be closer to home.
