Captain Beikmann representing Minnesota in Las Vegas.

Senior Captain Kit Beikmann worked his way to the finals of the Winter Cup after a great performance on his best routine, the pommel-horse, on Thursday.  Beikmann is one of 42 of the nation’s top gymnasts to make it to today’s finals.  He will have to fight hard to claim a spot on the U.S. National team.  Points wise, Beikmann is near the bottom of the list, No. 40 out of 42 gymnasts (27 pts).

Other Gophers competing include freshmen DJ Repp and Russell Dabritz, and junior Cole Storer.  One thing I was unaware of was the performance of former Gopher gymnast, Guillermo Alvarez so far in the competition.  A current member of the national team, Alvarez will have to prove again today why he should stay.  He looks destined to with 110 points at the No. 4 spot (out of 42).

I will post the results as they come.
