Andrea Rediger has earned the final spot on the roster that Minnesota will take to the Big Ten championships in Champaign, Ill., this weekend, womenâÄôs head coach Gary Wilson told the Minnesota Daily on Monday.

Rediger beat out Rachel Drake after showing greater improvement over the course of the season. She also won the JackâÄôs Run over the weekend.

âÄúIt came down to the end of the season and sheâÄôs put herself in a great spot,âÄù Wilson said. âÄúOne of the biggest things there at the end was Andrea improved by 40 seconds from the Griak to now and Rachel only improved four seconds.âÄù

At JackâÄôs Run on Saturday, Rediger finished with a time of exactly 22 minutes. Drake finished 17 seconds behind Rediger with a time of 22 minutes, 17 seconds.
Rediger finished in 22 minutes, 40 seconds at the Roy Griak Invitational and Drake finished in 22 minutes, 21 seconds.

âÄúAndrea will always put herself in the mix and thatâÄôs a really important thing for the Big Ten meet,âÄù assistant coach Sarah Hesser said. âÄúEspecially with the course the way it is being really flat and really fast, we needed somebody that wasnâÄôt afraid to go in there and bang up front.

âÄúIf she ends up fading a little bit at the end then so be it, but she kind of knows the more she puts herself in [the pack], the better chance sheâÄôs got to stick at the end.âÄù

Rediger joins All-American Steph Price, Missa Varpness, Molly Kayfes, Ashlie Decker, Katie Moraczewski, Laura Docherty, Maggie Bollig and Cassy Opitz on the roster of nine for the Big Ten meet.
