Staple kitchen item: Food processor

Yena Lee

I always thought food processors and blenders were essentially the same thing. However, once I started cooking a lot more, I realized how crucial a food processor is in the kitchen.

From making hummus to chimichurri, the food processor aids in ways that a blender can’t. A blender needs a decent amount of liquid to really blend anything. In contrast, a food processor doesn’t need any liquid to chop or puree.

When making hummus, it’s much easier to use a food processor because it really chops the chickpeas well before adding any other ingredients to it.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to use the food processor, so I got a really small one. But once I realized that it’s a staple kitchen item, I recently got a bigger one. With the bigger capacity, I use it a lot more in the kitchen.
