Attempted auto theft on West Bank early Monday morning

The two suspects implied they had a gun.

An attempted car theft took place on the West Bank campus of the University of Minnesota early Monday morning, per a SAFE-U notification.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., two suspects near the intersection of Washington Avenue Southeast and 19th Avenue attempted to take the victim’s car.

According to the safety notification, the suspects implied they had a gun during the incident. One female suspect was approximately 5’7” and was described as “heavy set.” The other suspect, described as a male, was 5’8” with a thinner build. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

This is a Minneapolis Police Department case.
