The Gophers leading scorer (17.9 PPG) Sara Scalia announced Thursday that she will be entering the transfer portal, becoming the fifth Gophers player to do so since the start of the 2021-22 season.

Scalia, a Stillwater, Minn. native became a leader of Minnesota basketball averaging at 10 points per game in each of her three seasons with the program.

In 2021-22 she developed into a lethal three-point shooter making 41.3% from beyond the arc, adding 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest to a superb offensive campaign.

Veteran point guard Jasmine Powell and post player Klarke Sconiers entered the transfer portal during the season. Erin Hedman and Kadi Sissoko entered earlier this month. Now Scalia is the fifth Gophers player to leave the team since the start of the 2021-22 season.

Minnesota welcomes the No. 10 ranked recruiting class in the country, but it will now have to replace each of its top six scorers from this season’s team.
