Drugs, theft, fighting mar early spring for U community

University police responded to a fight in progress Friday involving eight men on the corner of Fourth Street Southeast and 15th Avenue Southeast, according to the police report.

Police detained seven of the men, but a 19-year-old male fled on foot. Assisting officers apprehended him, the report said.

The man who fled police was cited for underage consumption and was brought to the Hennepin County Medical Center for detoxification, the report said.

The rest of the men were released because officers determined they were mutual combatants, according to the report.


ï A 30-year-old Minneapolis man and a 21-year-old St. Louis Park man were arrested Monday for lurking with the intent to commit a crime near 11th Avenue Southeast and Second Street Southeast, according to the police report.

Minneapolis police officers observed a white Cadillac with its headlights off. Officers approached the vehicle and found burglary tools inside, the report said.

Police transported the men to Hennepin County Jail. The 21-year-old suspect has been released, but the 30-year-old suspect remains in jail without bail. Police have until Wednesday to charge him; otherwise he must be released.


ï A University Village resident reported April 2 that her roommate possessed and used marijuana, according to the police report.

The suspect was not home when the police arrived, according to the report.


ï University police, the Minneapolis Fire Department and University Emergency Management staff responded to a possible chemical leak March 31 in the mechanical engineering building at 111 Church St. S.E., according to the police report.


ï A 27-year-old Burnsville man reported an assault to University police Friday. The alleged assault occurred March 25 at the University Athletic Academic Counseling Office on the 500 block of 15th Avenue Southeast.


ï A 23-year-old Eagan man was arrested April 1 after a man allegedly found him going through his property. The victim made a citizen’s arrest, according to the police report.

The suspect was booked in Hennepin County Jail. He is no longer in custody.
