Women’s track finishes 14th in Program of the Year Standings

The Gophers women’s track and cross country teams were bestowed with the 14th place honor by the USTFCCCA – the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association. The association sponsors the Terry Crawford Program of the Year Award in which the three women’s programs -indoor and outdoor track and cross country – combined to finish 14th overall.

Minnesota finished 10th in the nation in cross country, 39th in indoor track and 31st in outdoor track. Only two other Big Ten schools – Penn State and Ohio State – scored in all three NCAA meets in 2009-10, . Nebraska, which will join the Big Ten in July of 2011, finished 19th in the women’s outdoor track standings. Texas A&M finished in first in both the men’s and women’s outdoor track standings.

Oregon won the Program of the Year award, finishing ninth in cross country, first in indoor track and field, and second in outdoor track and field.
