Minnesota director of golf Brad James will resign after the 2009-2010 season to take a position as High Performance Director for Golf Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport, according to the University of Minnesota.
James has overseen both men’s and women’s programs since June 2007 as director of golf. James led the Gophers to their first national championship in 2002 as an interim head coach. He has also won three Big Ten titles.
This year, the Gophers have not finished higher than third in a tournament, and finished in a tie for 13th at the Bridgestone Championship to close out the fall schedule.
A native of Queensland, Australia, James also played for the Gophers in 1993-1996.
A decision on who will lead the Gophers after this season will not be made until late spring.
