Edina man charged with Stadium Village sexual assault, thefts

The Hennepin County attorney’s office charged an Edina man Thursday with sexual assaulting two women in their South Minneapolis and Stadium Village homes.

Bruce Edward Willis, 47, is charged with 10 felony counts including first and second degree sexual assault, robbery and kidnapping.

According to the criminal complaint, Willis broke into a woman’s home on Huron Avenue Southeast on July 1 and threatened her with a knife. He then allegedly raped the woman and stole her credit cards and car.

Five days earlier, shortly after midnight June 27, police said, Willis entered the home of two women on Girard Avenue South in Minneapolis, where he allegedly assaulted one of them.

During the next three hours, he allegedly blindfolded them and used electrical cord to tie them up, later sexually touching one of the victims.

According to the criminal complaint, he told them he stole keys from the house earlier in the night with plans of returning after they had gone to bed.

Victims told police Willis stole money and credit cards and demanded their personal identification numbers before driving away in one of the victims’ cars.

Police obtained a photograph of Willis using one of the victims’ cards at an ATM.

Police received several calls regarding Willis after releasing the photograph and a composite sketch. Both sexual-assault victims identified Willis in a line-up.
