Pizza vending machines coming to America

Hate standing in line at Mesa or preheating your oven?  Well, there may soon be a solution for you.

Let’s Pizza is a pizza vending machine that promises to deliver a pizza made from scratch in under three minutes.  It is expected to arrive in America later this year, according to the industry website Pizza Marketplace.

You can expect to see the machines at malls, airports, universities and other community places.  A 10-inch pie will sell for $5.95 and will come in an insulated take-away box.  The vending machines will accept cash and credit cards.

There are more than 200 toppings from which to choose, the Los Angeles Times said.  The machine can even accommodate vegetarian and Kosher diets.

The idea comes from Italian entrepreneur Claudio Torghel, and will be distributed by the Netherlands company A1 Concepts.

“Let’s Pizza is a huge success in Europe and especially in Italy,” said A1 Concepts Chief Executive Officer Ronald Rammer in a Pizza Marketplace interview.  “That was proof for us that we have a very good pizza.”

Each machine contains a bag of flour and mineral water, Rammers said.  Every time you order a pizza, the machine will start making the dough, then shape it into a crust, and top it with organic tomato sauce.  Finally, the toppings are added and the pizza is baked in an infra-red oven.

Each pizza machine is connected to the Internet to monitor product availability, Rammers said.  Both local operators and national companies will handle the responsibility of maintaining the machines.

“We don’t have the intention to become the competition of the existing players,” Rammer said.  “But once people discover the quality of the pizza and the convenience and, indeed, the speed factor, we expect to have competition in our favor.”
