The process of selecting this year's artists started last fall, said Beth Youngblom, Spring Jam chair member.  The Student Unions and Activities program board first brainstormed ideas for potential artists with a volunteer committee.  The list of artists was generated through artist popularity in marketing surveys and other member suggestions.  There were literally hundreds of artists in the running, Youngblom said.

Cost and artist availability were two considerations when narrowing down the list.  In the end, it came down to a small handfull – but there was no set number planned for.

The goal is to have a variety of genres represented in order to reach a wider variety of interests, Youngblom said.

The program board consists of three chair members and 20 volunteers.
