Minnesota moved up three spots to No. 5 in this week’s USCHO.com poll after sweeping Alaska Anchorage this past weekend. The Gophers defeated the Seawolves 5-0 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday to improve to 7-1-0 on the season.
This is their best start since the 2001-02 season when the Gophers started 11-0-2.
Boston College remained at No. 1 in the USCHO.com poll for the second straight week. Colorado College (4-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) is the top-ranked WCHA team in the poll at No. 2 after sitting idle last weekend.
Minnesota is 4-0-0 in WCHA play and ranks atop the conference with eight points, though it trials Colorado College in the national rankings. The Gophers will host North Dakota this weekend at Mariucci Arena on Friday and Saturday.
