The Minnesota women’s basketball team took down TCU on Friday 61-56 in the first round of the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Grand Island Bahamas.
The Gophers were led on the court by Jackie Voigt, who finished with a career-high 17 points. Ashley Ellis-Milan had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kiara Buford also chipped in 11 points and Brittany McCoy finished with eight assists and seven steals.
Minnesota now moves on to the tournament championship where they will face No. 9 Xavier on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. Xavier will be the first nationally ranked team the Gophers will have faced so far in this young season.
