Beuckens competes at NCAA meet

Minnesota’s Megan Beuckens tied for 10th place in the all-around competition for the first session of the NCAAwomen’s gymnastics meet.
“I hit my meet,” she said. “I’m excited about coming and next year, the whole team will be here.”
The sophomore finished 15th on the vault, 19th on the floor, 27th on beam and 34th on bars in the early preliminary session. She needed to place in the top four to qualify to compete in Saturday’s finals.
Not that it matters to Beuckens. She said her trip is about gaining experience for next year, when she expects the Gophers can qualify for the NCAAmeet.
“We’ll have to start from scratch and build the routines,”she said. “There’s a lot of excitement (at the meet) and a really cool atmosphere with all the people and the good teams here.”
