Developer requests fifth postponement in CVS pharmacy project in Marcy-Holmes

An Ohio real estate developer seeking to build a CVS pharmacy in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood asked the city Monday to postpone a vote on permit and rezoning requirements for the structure.

The Minneapolis Planning Commission was set to discuss the proposed changes at a meeting Monday afternoon, but Bear Creek Capital requested a delay for the fifth time since Nov. 17, 2003.

Bear Creek Capital Vice President Bill Tippmann said the request gives designers more time to iron out disagreements with city planners and neighborhood leaders.

According to site plans submitted to the city and dated Nov. 13, 2003, the company hopes to build a 13,000 square foot pharmacy and retail store on the corner of 10th Avenue Southeast and University Avenue.

The Minneapolis Planning Commission is now scheduled to debate the store at its March 22 meeting.
