A 21-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on the 1800 block of Como Avenue SE at 7 a.m. on Thursday.

The Minneapolis Police Department responded to three burglaries near the University of Minnesota campus this week, as well as two robberies and a narcotics violation.

These reports follow the department’s crime alert released in recent weeks due to an influx of burglaries in the Southeast Como neighborhoods.

MPD responded to a report of a burglary on the 1000 block of 4th Street SE at midnight Sunday. One resident told officers his bedroom door was “kicked open with apparent forced entry,” according to the police report. The 21-year-old said his roommate’s bedroom door was kicked open as well, even though it had been locked.

Officers are investigating another burglary that occurred around the same time and on the same block. Two residents at The Cluster apartments told MPD their apartment was burglarized at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

MPD responded to a call of a burglary in progress on June 9 at around noon on the 2700 block of 4th Street SE. A University law student told officers the suspect entered her apartment through a window and stole her computer. The case is ongoing at this time and suspect information was not released to the public.

MPD Crime Prevention Specialist Nick Juarez said most burglaries occur late at night when residents are sleeping. It can be especially tricky for those who share living spaces with multiple roommates, he said.

A homeless man was robbed around 5 a.m. Wednesday at a SuperAmerica gas station in Prospect Park. The 41-year-old suffered no injuries but was only able to provide MPD with limited information.

MPD responded to a suspicious person call around 4 a.m. Sunday at Stadium Village’s Hong Kong Noodle. Officers detained a 24-year-old male and discovered he was carrying methamphetamine. He was then arrested and booked at Hennepin County Jail.

A St. Paul man was robbed on the 900 block of 15th Avenue SE near Van Cleve Park around 11:00 p.m. Friday. The man had minor injuries and was unable to give a description of the suspect, according to an MPD police report.
