Suspected drunk driver hits police car

No one was injured in the collision on Minnesota State Highway 280.
A University of Minnesota Police Department squad car was hit by a suspected drunk driver on Saturday.

None of the parties involved suffered serious injury.

According to UMPD posts on Facebook, the accident occurred during a traffic stop on Minnesota State Highway 280, near the University Avenue exit.

The police vehicle and officer were struck by a suspected drunk driver, resulting in a collision with the stopped car.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the state has seen a steady decrease in “impaired driving incidents” since 2006, with about 25,000 in 2014.
