MINNESOTA-DULUTH

The Bulldogs finished at the bottom of WCHA standings last season with a dismal 7-27-4 overall record. The reason: A lethargic offense posted only 269 points, with 100 goals and 169 assists.
Bulldogs coach Mike Sertich seeks redemption this season. All but three roster regulars returned to camp. Forward Jeff Scissons, goalie Brant Nicklin and the defensive tandem of juniors Ryan Coole and Jesse Fibiger are expected to carry this year’s squad.
Scissons’ 18 goals and 19 assists led Duluth’s dismal scoring attack. The Bulldogs captain scored 14 of his goals against WCHA goaltenders.
Nicklin returns for his fourth season in goal. Like most of his teammates, the two-time WCHA saves-per-game leader had a subpar season in 1998-99. The Bulldogs posted a 6-23-3 record with Nicklin between the pipes.
