Volleyball cruises past Navy

For the second night in a row the No. 13 Minnesota Volleyball team made winning look easy, this time defeating Navy in three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-12 at Wesley Brown Fieldhouse in Annapolis, Maryland.
It was the underclassmen who did the heavy hitting for the Gophers (3-1). Tabitha Love led the team with 11 kills, while fellow freshman Katherine Harms followed up with six kills. Freshman Mia Tabberson had a solid performance with 25 assists and three blocks. Sophomore Ariana Filho had seven kills on the night.
Hitting percentage was once again a telling factor in how well the Gophers dominated the Midshipmen, Minnesota hit .523, more than three times more effective than the .167 put up by Navy.
Minnesota now comes home for the Diet Coke Classic at the Sports Pavilion. Their first match-up will be Friday against Auburn at 8:00 PM.
