The Minnesota soccer team ended its match with Tennessee tonight in a 0-0 tie after two overtimes, bringing its record to 2-1-1.
While the Gophers controlled the ball for much of the game, the Volunteers were able to keep up. Both teams earned 19 shots and three shots on goal.
Though Tennessee’s relentless defense held the tie, it didn’t come at a low cost. Freshman Ali Hall was red carded at 31:08 in the second half. Another red card was pulled soon after on Tennessee head coach, Angela Kelly, who was forced to leave the field for the duration of the game.
The last time the Gophers challenged the Volunteers was in 2007 when they lost 0-1.
