Freshman women's hockey defenseman Lee Stecklein was named WCHA Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Stecklein scored her first collegiate goal on Saturday against New Hampshire on the power play in the Gophers' 10-2 win. She also contributed two assists.
The next day, she scored the Minnesota's first goal, again on the power play, in the team's 4-0 victory. That goal was the game-winner. Stecklein has seen increased time on the power play in the past two weekends for Minnesota.
Minnesota will return to action Saturday to face No. 10 Wisconsin. It will be the first matchup for the teams since the national championship game in March, which the Gophers won.
