The third day of competition at the Speedo Championships concluded yesterday, and Minnesota swimmers earned two more event victories.
The 400 freestyle was once again a Minnesota dominated event, with the top three finishers all Gopher swimmers. Juniors Megan Braun and Courtney Veerman took the top two spots in the event, with Braun finishing first in a time of 4:19.35. Freshman Lauren Weis rounded out the top three with a time of 4:21.55.
In the 800 freestyle relay, Minnesota had a one-two finish. Veerman, Stacy Busack, Alison Eggers and Meagan Radecke finished in first place with a meet-record time of 8:21.92. Fellow Gophers Braun, Marissa Davies, Lissa Tommerdahl and Melissa Nelson finished second, nearly five seconds behind with a time of 8:26.26.
The final day of the meet is today at the Aquatics Center.
