Golf team gears up for Big Ten meet

In a final tuneup for the Big Ten golf championship, the Minnesota women’s golf team travels to Ohio State this weekend. The Gophers are scheduled to tee off at the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Saturday, their last chance to prepare for the conference tournament on April 28-29.
Minnesota finished sixth at the Lady Buckeye last season. This year the Gophers — led by junior Katie Bakken — look to top some Big Ten teams, but they’re probably not looking for a win. The host Buckeyes have earned the team crown eight times in the tournament’s 20-year history.
Four other Big Ten teams are in the field. Indiana, Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin are also after the team title.
Bowling Green, Kent, Louisville, Notre Dame, Ohio University, Princeton, Stetson, Toledo and Xavier are also participating in the 54-hole tournament.
