Two Minnesota cross country team freshmen finished in the top-five at the 2012 North America, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Cross Country Championships in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday.
Adam Zutz and Aaron Bartnik qualified in February by placing second and third in the 8k junior race at the 2012 USA Cross Country Championships in St. Louis, Mo. The pair again finished next to each other at the NACAC championships. Both clocked 19 minutes, 1.44 seconds to claim fourth and fifth place in the 6k for the United States.
Volunteer assistant coach Chris Rombough finished 13th in his senior 8k race with a time of 25:45.97. He ran to fourth in the 12k at the national championships to qualify for Team USA.
Head coach Steve Plasencia joined his team members in the Caribbean for the meet.
