After scoring 12 goals in a sweep of Ohio State last weekend, one of the few offensive players that didn’t score a single goal on the weekend has earned WCHA rookie of the week honors.

Freshman Sarah Davis earned WCHA Rookie of the week honors, tallying four assists in the Gophers women’s hockey team’s 8-1 win over Ohio State last Saturday.

Davis, who is tied for third on the team in points, set a career high with four assistsin the game.  She assisted three of the Gophers’ four second-period goals, helping Minnesota take a 7-1 lead after two periods.  Davis and her linemates freshman Kelly Terry and sophomore Becky Kortum recorded nine points in the win.

Davis is tied for second on the team in assists with 16 and is tied for the team lead in multi-point games with seven.

Davis and the Gophers travel to top-ranked Wisconsin this weekend.
