Student shot in face with pellet gun during robbery

The first year University of Minnesota student was shot outside the Leaning Tower of Pizza Wednesday.

A first-year University of Minnesota biological sciences student was robbed after being shot in the face with a pellet gun on Wednesday evening, police said. The student was treated for non-serious injuries and released from University Medical Center, Fairview, according to a Minneapolis Police report. The 18-year-old student was attacked outside the Leaning Tower of Pizza restaurant, where he was meeting a potential buyer for a phone he had advertised online, around 7:30 p.m., according to a University of Minnesota security alert. A second man shot the student in the face with a pellet gun while the first suspect was inspecting the phone, according to the alert. The suspects then ran away, according to the police report. The victim was not immediately available for comment.
