Minnesota’s men’s basketball team will look to halt its two-game skid at noon Saturday against Coastal Carolina at home.
The Gophers (2-2) are coming off a 73-72 home loss to Gardner-Webb on Monday and an 83-66 beating by Maryland in College Park, Md., on Wednesday.
Coastal Carolina (1-2) is coming off a 70-35 pummeling of Division II Coker. Before that win, Coastal Carolina got blown out at Wisconsin, 92-54.
The Chanticleers have a young squad with just two seniors on the roster and are led by sophomore guard Jack Leasure, who is averaging 17 points per game this season.
If there’s been one contributing factor in its recent losses, it’s been Minnesota’s lack of depth.
In both losses, fatigue was an obvious factor for the Gophers down the stretch, as five players played career highs in minutes.
And it doesn’t look like Minnesota’s depth will be much better for Saturday’s game.
Senior guard Maurice Hargrow left Wednesday’s game with a strained leg and is listed as day-to-day, and there still has not been a decision on whether Rico Tucker will play Saturday.
