Injury updates: men’s hockey

—It’s unclear whether Nick Bjugstad will be available this weekend as the Gophers try to win the MacNaughton Cup for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Bjugstad went down with an undisclosed injury last weekend in the team’s series against Nebraska-Omaha and did not return.

Minnesota did not release the extent of his injury postgame, but head coach Don Lucia described Bjugstad Wednesday as “day-to-day.”

“He may play or he may not,” Lucia said. “We’ll just see how he progresses the rest of the week.”

Bjugstad leads the Gophers with 38 points on the season and usually anchors the first line.

—Nick Larson broke his wrist in mid-January and underwent surgery Jan. 17.

He has recovered from the injury and will make his return this weekend against Wisconsin.

“I got cleared this week, and it feels good,” Larson said. “There’ve been no setbacks, no limitations or anything like that. I’m just excited to get back.”

Larson played on the fourth line and had four points prior to his injury.

It’s uncertain where Larson will be in the lineup this weekend as the possibility of Bjugstad missing the game could shake up the lines.

—Lucia said Ben Marshall will also return to the lineup this weekend after missing the team’s series against UNO.

Blake Thompson filled in for Marshall last weekend.
