With a two wins over Brown and Harvard last weekend, and a Minnesota-Duluth loss, Minnesota’s women’s hockey team gained the No. 1 ranking in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll.
Minnesota holds an 11-0-1 overall record, the only team with an unbeaten record in the WCHA. Minnesota took the top spot after the Crimson defeated Minnesota-Duluth, but fell to the Gophers the following day, 4-3. Minnesota gained all but one vote for the top spot, with the other going to Harvard.
The Gophers were ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation last year for 10 consecutive weeks, from Jan. 14 to March 18, up until the NCAA Frozen Four, where the team finished third.
There are three WCHA teams represented in the polls; Minnesota is first, Minnesota-Duluth third and Wisconsin seventh.
Minnesota travels to St. Lawrence this weekend to face its fourth ranked opponent in the month of November. The Gophers return home, Nov. 30 when Minnesota-Duluth comes to town.
