Looking ahead to the 2011-12 season, Tubby Smith wasn’t content with the point guard position, so he went out and found another one.
According to multiple reports, junior college point guard Julian Welch committed to the Gophers on Saturday, solidifying a position where Minnesota had only Maverick Ahanmisi, who will be a sophomore next season.
Welch is a 6-foot-3 sophomore at Yuba College in Marysville, Calif, and on Saturday he told the Pioneer Press and Star Tribune he committed to the Gophers.
