If you’re looking to get off campus after a busy start to the semester, check out these weekend events for some winter fun both indoors and outdoors. 

Friday: Family Skating & Bonfire

Enjoy a night of winter sports and games at the Northwest Como Recreation Center. Lace up your skates, bring your sticks and hit the ice! Show shoes and cross country skis will also be available. Cozy up around the bonfire with complimentary hot chocolate and popcorn. No pre-registration required.

When: 6 – 8 p.m.

Where: Northwest Como Recreation Center, 1550 Hamline Ave. N., St. Paul

Saturday:  Free First Saturday: Cabin Fever 2020

Feeling ready to get out of your state of hibernation? Grab your friends and family and head over to the Walker Art Center for the museum’s recurring Free First Saturday event series. Enjoy free gallery admission, as well as open art stations to create your own masterpiece. Bundle up for a snowshoe tour through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden or head inside for a winter film. 

When: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Sunday: SIP ‘N BLOOM Super Bowl Party

Celebrate the big game a little differently this Sunday: with arts and crafts. While you enjoy a beer and watch football, Lakes & Legends Brewings has the supplies for do-it-yourself flower arrangements so you and your friends can create a Superbowl centerpiece. Select a vase, browse the wide selection of flowers from the “Bloom Bar” and receive expert advice from a master florist. Make sure to stick around and enjoy the game! All ages are welcome.

When: Flower arranging from 12  – 4 p.m.; kickoff at 5:30 p.m. 

Where: Lakes & Legends Brewing Company, 1368 Lasalle Ave., Minneapolis

Cost: Free admission. Vases start at $7, flowers sold individually.
