Ecology Club

The Ecology Club offers a variety of activities catered for students who are passionate about the environment, ecology and conservation. The club leads trips exploring sites such as the Native American Medicine Garden, the Bee Lab, Como Zoo and the Wildlife Science Center. The group also hosts fortnightly meetings where guest speakers are invited to share their expertise with group members.

Jazba Entertainment

Jazba Entertainment is a student organization that uses South Asian dance and art as a forum for cultural exchange. The group hosts an inter-collegiate Bollywood-Fusion dance competition every year, where top teams across the nation are invited to compete at the University of Minnesota. Jazba Entertainment also partners with Women In Need–an organization that works to improve the lives of women in India–and holds fundraising events throughout the year to support the cause.

Black Student Union

The Black Student Union is an inclusive space for black students to advocate for each other and discuss issues that impact black communities. The group’s goals include promoting black awareness at the University, engaging in community service and providing academic support for students. BSU organizes several events, including Unity Dinner,Black History events and political awareness events.

Minnesota International Student Association

The Minnesota International Student Association serves and provides resources for the University’s international community. In addition to easing the transition for international students, MISA seeks to strengthen the bond between international and domestic students. The group promotes cultural exchange by hosting a variety of events such as the Feast of Nations, International Music Night and multiple cultural workshops. 

Muslim Students Association

From hosting religious celebrations and providing resources such as prayer spaces, the Muslim Students Association is an organization committed to supporting Muslim students on the University of Minnesota campus. As well as community service and providing volunteer opportunites, the group strives to breakdown common misconceptions about Islam through community outreach, hosting interfaith panels throughout the year as well as several events and activities including Islam Awareness Week. 

La Raza Student Cultural Center

La Raza Student Cultural Center’s mission is to raise awareness about Chicano/a and Latino/a communities through education.This student organization provides opportunities for students to learn about different aspects of Latinx culture, from gender and sexuality to race and ethnicity. Advocating for Latinx and Chicano communities, La Raza strives to increase the recruitment and retention of Chicano and Latino students. The group hosts events such as Latino socials, a Latinx faculty speaking series and many cultural celebrations including El Grito and Dia de Los Muertos.

Asian-American Student Union

The Asian-American Student Union serves to represent the diversity of Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American cultures on campus. It promotes inclusivity and cultural awareness through educational workshops, community engagement and social interactions. The group hosts an annual spring conference consisting of a series of workshops that tackle issues faced by members of the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities.
