Culture compass: Spring, winter and … ‘poosh?’

A&E’s guide to the weekend.

Friday: AWAKE After Dark

You’ve read all of The Wake Magazine’s band Q&As — now head down 4th Street Southeast or University Avenue Southeast toward Honey on Friday to listen with them! Grab a happy hour drink beforehand and then enjoy performances by A Mess, Stone Arch Isles and Early Eyes at the magazine’s annual concert.

Where: Honey, 205 E. Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis

When: 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $10

Saturday: World’s Largest Textile Garage Sale

The University of Minnesota’s ReUse Program is a wonderland in its own right. This weekend, however, the program is partnering with the Textile Center to host the “World’s Largest Textile Garage Sale” — opening up a whole new array of goodness for treasure hunters.

Where: University of Minnesota ReUse Program, 883 29th Ave. SE., Minneapolis

When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: $3

Sunday: Art in Bloom

Florals for spring. I’ve been attending this event at the Minneapolis Institute of Art for five or so years now, and it’s still groundbreaking. Every year, Mia’s galleries serve as inspiration for Minneapolitan florists. Wander the museum’s halls and smell the inspired-by-artwork displays — eyes and nose wide open.

Where: Minneapolis Institute of Art, 2400 S. 3rd Ave., Minneapolis

When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: Free

CULTURE TO CONSUME

Watch this: “Game of Thrones”

Season eight, the last of the series, premieres on Sunday night and somewhere a marketing expert is shaking. With this snow, will Midwestern viewer engagement go up? Winter is here again, baby!

Wear this: Your retainer

I had to pick up a new retainer last week. It was expensive, and I’m sad. Wear yours! Take good care of it! (Or just embrace your new gaps, I guess — you’re darling either way. But floss!)

Kourtney Kardashian’s new lifestyle blog, named after her beloved daughter Penelope, launched recently. It’s basically Goop. It’s fun to comb through. Do with this what you will.
