Facebook expanded the amount of account data that members can download about themselves Thursday.

The social network first provided its nearly 900 million users with the option to download their information in Oct. 2010 amidst ongoing privacy concerns on the site, pcmag.com said. 

Accessible information included photos and videos shared on Facebook, Wall posts, messages, and chat conversations, friends' names and email addresses, the article said.  New infomation is expected to become more available gradually.

Mark Zuckerberg, co-creator of Facebook, said many users requesting copies of their information prompted the addition.

Users can visit the download page and click "Start My Archive" to receive the data via email.

Transparency was an issue for Facebook last year after a 24-year-old Austrian law student filed 22 privacy-related complaints after asking for data about his account activity.  Ultimately, the Irish Data Protection Commissioner – which handles the complaints – told Facebook to be more transparent about its facial-recognition feature.
