BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) – Two “bomb explosions.” Twenty-eight people “injured.” Eighteen people “killed.” Those were some of the statistics officials were reviewing after a training exercise that simulated a mock terrorist attack at the Mall of America on Sunday night. The drill involved 17 agencies to see how police, firefighters and other rescue workers would handle a scenario that included bombs with low-level radiation. Three people were “killed” in the initial mock attack and 15 people simulated death when a “car bomb” exploded about 25 minutes later, surprising emergency personnel on the scene. Among the “dead” were firefighters and some of the victims who were injured in the first simulated explosion.
