Student robbed on West Bank

A suspect showed the victim a gun and demanded her valuables at noon Saturday.

A University of Minnesota student was robbed outside Carlson School of Management Saturday morning, according to an alert sent to the University community.

University police responded to a report of an armed robbery at 11:50 a.m. at the school’s east entrance. The suspect approached the victim as she exited the school and asked for the time. He then showed her the black semi-automatic handgun concealed in his jacket and demanded her valuables, the alert said.

Once the victim surrendered her cellphone, the suspect fled across South Fourth Street. The victim was not injured, according to the alert.

Video surveillance shows the suspect entering the school. The University of Minnesota Police Department is investigating the crime.
