Gophers finish ninth in Minnesota Invitational

Minnesota finished ninth as a team while junior Heather Ciskowski posted a collegiate-best tied-for-third finish.

The Gophers maintained their place from day one of the Minnesota Invitational tournament to finish ninth overall in the team standings.

Minnesota, anchored by the performances of junior Heather Ciskowski and sophomore Muyu Wu, shot a final mark of 907 for the tournament, 43 strokes over par.

Ciskowski and Wu were both solid through the first day of competition and kept up success from the first two rounds through Tuesday’s third.

Ciskowski finished the tournament with a final mark of 217, one stroke over par, and tied for third place. Ciskowski was in four-way tie for individual frontrunner yesterday and 217 marks her best collegiate finish so far.

Wu shot a 223, seven over par, and finished the tournament in a four-way tie for 13th place. It was an improvement from her first day standing, where she was tied for 22nd place.

Isabelle Johansson of Kentucky and sophomore Haylee Harford of Furman shared the individual first place title and both shot one under par.

Furman and Purdue both shot 18 over par after three rounds, but Furman won the tiebreaker to take the tournament crown.

The Minnesota women’s golf team returns to action September 23 for the Lady Paladin invitational in Greenville, S.C.
