Thousands lose power in severe storm

Severe thunderstorms Sunday night cut power to thousands of residents across the east metro, reported the Star Tribune.

A slight risk of severe weather from thunderstorms to hail and a possible tornado was forecast by the National Weather Service.

About 17,000 homes and businesses in the Twin Cities lost power as a result of the storm, according to Xcel Energy.

The storm affected Ramsey, Dakota, and Washington counties and also moved through western Wisconsin
